Membership Information

Membership of Sk8scotland is open to all skaters in Scotland who meet two of three main criteria:

  1. born in Scotland or of Scottish parentage,
  2. resident in Scotland for a period of one year or more,
  3. a member of a NISA/Sk8scotland affiliated club.

Coaching membership is open to fully licensed NCCP coaches active in Scotland. Membership fees are payable to NISA UK (fees as per NISA)
and membership of Sk8scotland also gives automatic membership of NISA. In practice all skaters resident in Scotland who have paid their
membership to NISA are deemed to be members of Sk8scotland, and the criteria above are only strictly applied if competing for and representing Scotland (e.g. NISA Cup).

Introduction

Sk8scotland is fully affiliated to the National Ice Skating Association of UK, the Governing Body for ice skating in the UK. Sk8scotland is responsible for the effective delivery of UK National programmes in Scotland, and for promoting and developing the sport in all its branches throughout Scotland.

In 1999, NISA established a working group – NISA Scotland – to oversee the delivery and development of the sport in Scotland. From this working group, Sk8scotland was established and was formally incorporated in March 2004 as the official Governing Body for ice skating in Scotland.
