The Sk8scotland Board is delighted to announce that they have purchased a full set of IJS equipment which will be used for all Scottish Championships and available to Scottish Clubs for their Open Events as well as for training.
During the research period over recent weeks Sk8scotland has also been putting together a Sk8scotland IJS Technical Group of Volunteers who wish to work with the Board in the delivery of IJS events.
The IJS Technical Group will be chaired by the newly appointed Sk8scotland Director, David Johnston who has been responsible for putting this equipment together for Dundee Ice Skating Club, and more recently arranging that Sk8scotland may purchase it. David is a NISA Level 3 Results Official.
Other members of the Group so far are as follows: Bryan Morrice (Sk8cotland Chair) who will look after the finances relating to the equipment, Judy Clinton who will be responsible for the planning and timetabling, Wullie Loach (Level 3 Results Official), Bob Peters (Level 3 Results Official) and John Sealey who will offer technical support.
John Donnelly has agreed to act as a Consultant to the group.
Any Scottish Volunteers or others already on the NISA qualification system interested in working with this group in any of the following capacities please contact David Johnston at .
- Transportation and setting up/taking down
- Preparation training to apply as a Results Official
- Preparation training to apply as Data Operators
- Being involved as a current NISA Official in training
Sk8scotland is not in a position to offer qualifications in Results or Data Operating but do propose to try and offer fast track training to assist NISA in recruiting new Officials.
Sk8scotland is keen to progress assistance and education to clubs who may wish to deliver events with partial IJS until such time as they are able to finance and source the large number of officials required for a full scale IJS event.
Clubs seeking assistance in the details of the running of an IJS event, again please email either David Johnston or and the Board will make the necessary arrangements to visit your committee.
Application forms for use of equipment will be made available on the Sk8scotland website soon. There will be no charge for the use of this equipment but the Club will be responsible for finding all the necessary officials to run their event and pay the expenses to our Technical Group members (1 or 2 persons depending on distances, availability etc) who will be responsible for the equipment throughout the event.
This is one of the most exciting developments to take place for Scottish Skaters, Coaches, Judges and Organisers and the Board would like to publicly show their appreciation to Dundee Ice Skating Club for their assistance in making this possible at this time.
